Does anyone else have different kind of ears?
Many of you would’ve heard the center channel in a good home theater – it sounds nasal and different but I LOVE that tone – simply because it’s pure midrange and it pleases me 100 times more than the other 4 speakers do.. Using a graphic equalizer does’nt seem to help, it’s not even the center speaker that’s the secret ingredient, it’s the DSP in the receiver- it modulates the sound that goes to the center so that it sounds different. Can anyone recommend something for me? I basically want all 5 speakers to sound like the center does but I want my surround functionality to work as well. Using a graphic equalizer on my pc does not help at all, I’ve tried many sound cards.
I’d never quibble with what someone likes (just don’t necessarily expect others listening to your setup to agree).
If you like the “sound” of the center you could use the same type of speaker for all channels ….but you claim it’s the DSP that does it for you. If you are right the DSP should be able to give the same “sound” to your mains and surround speakers.
Since the center handles most of the vocal/speech paret of surround sound it’s possible you’ll never notice if the other speakers sound that way though … since they generally don’t handle speech.
